Day to night

Day to night: "

Client wanted an image that looked like “it was shot in the middle of the night or dusk.” Due to logistics though, it had to be shot during the middle of the day. No worries! I nuked certain parts of the scene with huge amounts of light (strobe) – enough to overpower the ambient sunlight and shot at the camera’s fastest synch speed of 1/250th. I had a barebulb head upstairs in the bedroom, one in the garage, a main light (2400 watt seconds) in magnum type reflector lighting up kid, and placed to the left, and another gridded light behind basketball hoop, to throw a little light on stand and the athlete.


The image below is something I dummied up for my own kicks, with dusk stars added and some other effects. Shot tethered to a laptop.
